The best thing to come out of an ash cloud

The eruption of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano has put the travel industry of western Europe in a very difficult spot. No one could have seen a natural disaster like this coming and little could have been done to prepare for it. Most blog posts and news coverage I have seen so far have been somewhat negative, so I went on a mini crusade to find at least one good thing that has come from the ashcloud crisis. It took some time, but I eventually found it: Volcanic Airways.

Although it sounds like a volcano sight-seeing tour, or possibly a new nickname for KLM , it’s actaully a highly addictive online game developed by Miniclip. Creative Director, Niclas Aberg, describes the intention behind Miniclip.com’s Volcanic Airways-  ”We sympathise with the thousands suffering from the flight restrictions and our aim now, as always at Miniclip.com is to amuse and entertain. Once again we’re releasing an exciting game but there’s a serious message too and that relates to the importance of bringing airline passengers home quickly, but safely.”

My best score was 20,848- let me know if you can beat it!
